Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia wants a stricter subscription plan for the communication allowance of all department heads and other officials of the Province of Cebu to economize the provincial government’s coffer.
Globe Telecom, Inc. representatives Shion Canen and Ana Paula Villaflor presented their Enterprise Mobile Plans for 2020 to the governor that starts at P399 line only plan up to P2,999 on Monday, January 13.
Garcia said they will be subscribing the Plan 779 for all department heads. Plan 799 includes Unlimited calls to Globe/TM subscribers, Unlimited SMS to Globe/TM, Unlimited All-Network Texts, Unlimited All-Network Calls, Unlimited All-Network Landline, and 4 gigabyte for mobile data use.
The provincial government will be paying the subscription plan.
“Ang gamit ra gyud kay text and calls,” she said, adding that the cellular phones issued will be for work purposes only, not for live-streaming and other purposes.
For the government-owned subscription plan, Garcia said only one mobile application will be installed, which is Viber, for sending of messages as well as documents.
With the new subscription plan, Garcia said the provincial government will only pay one-third of the existing subscription plan.
The Capitol cut their Smart Communications subscription and intended to transfer to the Globe network.
Before her third term as governor ended in 2013, Garcia said the subscription plan of the department heads was at P3,500 while its assistant was at P2,500. However, these went up to P5,000 under the last administration.
Included in the monthly communication allowance are the governor, vice governor, 17 provincial
board members, 12 department heads, nine assistant department heads, as well as the chiefs of hospitals and administrative officers of the 16 provincial and district hospitals run by the Cebu Provincial Government.
Meanwhile, Globe Telecom proposed to enhance the free Wi-Fi services at the Capitol allowing walk-in clients and guests to use the services for 30 minutes up to one hour for free.
