More than 1000 barangay workers in Bantayan Island received the increased cash incentives from the Cebu Provincial Government today at the Bantayan municipal gym.
From P2,400, barangay health workers (BHW), animal health aides (BAHA), nutrition scholars (BNS), and daycare workers (DCW) received P4,000 cash gift while barangay tanods received P3,000 from the previous P1,500.
Apart from the cash gift, they also received kits which included a sphygmomanometer for BHWs, tools for artificial insemination of livestock for BAHAs, and a belt with flashlight and batuta for the tanods.
Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said this is Capitol’s way of thanking the barangay frontliners for their help in implementing health, youth, and livestock programs as well as ensuring the peace and order in the barangays.
“You are our unsung heroes. Di mo makita sa pamantalaan ug magawas sa telebisyon apan nasayod kami sa dakong tabang ninyo sa matag barangay,” she expressed.
The governor also shared that all of the barangay workera are now covered under the GSIS group accident insurance.
“Maayo nalang og naa man gani mahitabo simbako, naa’y madawat ang inyong pamilya,” she said.
About 484 barangay workers from Bantayan town received the incentives, 402 were from Santa Fe town, and 338 from Madridejos town.
Bantayan mayor Arthur Despi thanked the Capitol and the governor for coming to the island, not just for the second leg of Suroy Suroy Sugbo, but also for the incentives distribution.
“Bilib ko kay nasingit gyud ang Suroy Suroy ug distribution karong adlawa. Pasalamat pud ta kay maayo ra ang panahon bahala ug adunay gamayng bawd,” he said. (Lianne Llesol)
