Classes from kindergarten to senior high school of public schools in the 44 towns and seven component cities of the Province of Cebu are declared suspended.

“I hereby declare the suspension of classes in the Province starting Monday,” Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said today, March 13 based on the recommendation of Department of Education 7 Assistant Regional Director Cristito Eco.

Eco said that classes would have been over next week but because of the Provincial Government’s stringent efforts to avert local transmission of the dreaded 2019 Coronavirus disease (Covid-2019) here, a contingency plan is in place, allowing students to take their final examinations online.

“Ang impact ra gyud aning suspension sa classes is dili maka-conduct og test supposedly next week, but we have laid down options for them to take their tests online,” Eco said.

As for higher education institutions located in the Province, Garcia asked for a complete list especially of state universities and colleges (SUCs) on when exactly the school classes would end.

"I need to be appraised as to when the classes would exactly end so I could decide accordingly,” Garcia said. (Eleanor Valeros)
