Air-conditioned buses are exempted from curfew and will continue to ferry passengers going to their hometowns before Cebu Province’s enhanced community quarantine takes effect on Monday, March 30, 2020.
Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia asked owners of buses, mini buses and vans to deploy more buses at the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT).
“Bus trips will continue and will be exempted from all curfews. Operating hours will be extended,” Garcia told the public via Facebook Live on Thursday prior to her meeting with Cebu’s town and city mayors.
Passengers are also told to wear masks when boarding air-conditioned buses.
She urged private owners to put aside business interest and give public interest a priority during these challenging times.
“You have been earning a lot since you came into business here and have grown (your business) subsequently. It is about time you give back to Cebuanos,” the governor said.
Earlier, Garcia issued Executive Order 5-M regulating the use of air conditioning units in public transport vehicles to allow proper ventilation.
Strict social distancing should also be followed, the order said. (Vanessa L. Almeda)
