To show appreciation to the valuable service of the Philippine National Police personnel especially those manning the checkpoints, the Cebu Provincial Government will
enroll them all in the Government Service Insurance System group accident insurance.

These are the personnel of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, led by Col. Roderick Mariano, rendering 12-hour duty per shift in 24 hours.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, in her regular press conference today, April 16, announced that the 1,600 police personnel manning the checkpoints will be enrolled in the
GSIS group accident insurance plan worth P500,000 each.

“Dili man diay ni sila covered sa GSIS. Mokuha diay ni sila og insurance plan unya i-deduct sa ilang sweldo, ila na nang choice,” Garcia said.

CPPO personnel are expected to enforce stricter border control after Garcia learned that despite the lack of public transport, a so-called exodus is now noticed as
more people are leaving Cebu City being a hotspot of Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the island of Cebu.

“Busa karon pa lang magpasalamat na ta sa CPPO under Col. Roderick Mariano ug sa atong Philippine Army under Col. Jerry Borja,” she added.

“The accident insurance will cover all PNP personnel under the CPPO, including force multipliers. Apilon ni nato kay apil ra ba sad ni sila sa magpulaw (vigil). Dili

siguro sama sa P500,000 since they are volunteers, we will see how we can help them,” Garcia added. (Eleanor Valeros)
